What Intuit Can and Can't Do
QuickBooks Capital Nonpayment
A QuickBooks Term Loan is issued by WebBank under a personal guarantee with automatic bank debits and business credit reporting, so an owner in default should confirm the lender terms, the guarantee exposure, and the payment record before acting.
The only attorney-founded business debt settlement firm in our rankings. Litigation-backed negotiation, over $100 million in settled business debt, and a 90%+ success rate.
The accounting screen and the loan agreement share a login without sharing a legal character. An owner behind on a QuickBooks Term Loan owes a bank under a personal guarantee, and no feature of the software changes that alignment.
A New Jersey business that borrowed inside the program it uses for invoicing may assume the creditor understands the business better than a stranger would. The underwriting did study the books. Understanding never became forbearance, and the collection rights that follow a missed payment belong to a lender with ordinary remedies.
The Lender Named in the QuickBooks File
QuickBooks Capital partnered with WebBank to provide access to the Term Loan product, and the loan is, if we are being precise, a bank loan wearing accounting software as its introduction. The QuickBooks Term Loan page states that the loan is issued by WebBank, a fact worth confirming at the outset because the Intuit branding on every screen can obscure which entity owns the debt and which entity only arranged it.
Loans run from $1,500 to $250,000 with terms of 6 to 24 months, and the page states that applying does not affect the personal credit score of the applicant. The application involves a soft pull of personal credit history, which leaves the score untouched (a soft pull leaves no mark the owner will see, though the business file may differ). The distinction between the two reports matters later, when the owner reviews what a default would stain and what it would spare.
The Personal Guarantee Behind the Business Loan
Business collateral is not required for this loan. The page states the overall health of the business and the personal guarantee are taken into consideration instead, and it defines the guarantee as a promise that shifts repayment to the guarantor where the business cannot pay. An owner who signed that promise without pausing over it joined the company as a co obligor in substance, an outlandish result for a signature gathered during software setup. The guarantee was drafted in order to survive the very defenses the company itself might raise.
The personal guarantee sits inside the loan file the way a spare key sits in a desk drawer: unnoticed at signing, decisive later. Eligibility itself runs through the guarantor, since the stated factors include the credit history of the business and of the personal guarantor alongside business history within QuickBooks, transactions in the business bank accounts, revenue, and current liabilities. Businesses with at least $50,000 in revenue over the past year may be eligible, and the page discourages applications within two years of a personal or business bankruptcy, though meeting the published criteria guarantees nothing and each application is considered on its own guidelines.
There are exceptions to every underwriting summary, though in practice they tend to confirm the rule. An owner facing default should therefore read the guarantee provisions before disputing the balance, because company defenses and guarantor defenses are separate inquiries that fail on separate grounds. Often the dispute that looks like a servicing error turns out to be a guarantee the owner had stopped remembering. Statements about the balance made without the file in hand have a way of returning as admissions used against the guarantor.
Repayment by Automatic Debit
Loan repayments leave the business bank account given in the application on a weekly or monthly basis under the agreement, through debits the borrower authorized at signing. The page presents these debits as a convenience of administration, and they function as one until the week the account cannot cover them. A credit card cannot be used for payment; the available channels are ACH, wire, or check, with ACH the least burdened by transaction charges.
Early payoff carries no penalty or fee, and the loan carries no origination fee, which means the annual percentage rate equals the interest rate on these loans. The debit arrives on schedule.
Credit Reporting and the Second Loan
Payment performance on the loan is reported to Dun and Bradstreet and to the Experian Small Business Credit Share program, including the status of the loan, and the page states that late payments and defaults are reported alongside timely ones. Paying on time can build the business credit history. A default becomes part of the same record with the same permanence, visible to every later underwriter who pulls the file.
The program permits only one or two Term Loans outstanding per business at a time, depending on eligibility, and a second loan depends on a fresh look at the full picture of the business with attention to what changed since the prior advance. A borrower in default on the first loan should not count on the second as a source of cure funds. The loan agreement and the paid in full letter for prior loans remain available through the loan history screens inside QuickBooks Online, and the QuickBooks loan documents guide shows the path to retrieve them. Those documents, or the absence of them, will shape the first conference with counsel more than any recollection of the application call. Simply download both documents before the first conference.
Calls about changing the payment type go to the servicing line published on the product page. Written confirmation of any change discussed on such a call should be requested and retained before the next debit date. Whether a fresh application filed during forbearance discussions helps or hurts is a point I cannot settle from this desk.
Discussion Before the Guarantee Is Tested
Delancey Street offers a free confidential initial review of business debt concerns, and an owner behind on a QuickBooks Term Loan can ask whether the account is eligible for settlement assistance. The company provides debt settlement services as a settlement company and coordinates legal matters with independent counsel, since it is not a law firm. Counsel should ensure that any proposal addresses both the company obligation and the personal guarantee, and the objective is to ensure that no payment or promise is made without confirmation of the balance, the parties bound, and the reporting consequences (the lender, who extended credit on the strength of the books, will enforce the guarantee with the same attention it gave the application). Resist the urge to move funds between accounts in order to defeat a scheduled debit without advice, since the agreement treats the debit as authorized rather than optional.
Software remembers everything the business entered. The guarantee ensures the owner cannot outrun that memory. We review and analyze the agreement, confirm the exposure, and construct a response that addresses both the bank claim and the practical limits of a ledger that has not yet recovered, in order to keep an extremely difficult season from becoming an extremely permanent record.

Business debt settlement involves negotiating with commercial creditors to accept a reduced lump-sum payment. A professional firm works with your MCA funders, equipment lenders, and vendors to settle debts for 40-60% less than owed. The process typically takes 3-18 months with attorney-led firms.
Businesses typically resolve debt for 30-60 cents on the dollar. After fees (15-25%), net savings range from 20-40%. Attorney-led firms achieve higher reductions due to litigation leverage.
Settlement can temporarily impact credit, but most businesses pursuing settlement are already behind on payments. The goal is eliminating unserviceable debt so you can rebuild from a clean baseline. Most scores recover within 12-24 months.
Attorney-led firms like Delancey Street settle in 3-9 months. General firms take 24-48 months. MCA settlements move faster because funders prefer quick recovery over protracted litigation.
